Building a Successful Life                                     

Weather in Life or In Business, most great success stories first began with a single person and a powerful vision of a better future. The clearer and stronger the vision, the easier it is to overcome any obstacles and challenges along the way. The secret to this is emotion and the more emotional fuel you generate towards your vision, the easier and less stressful it is to overcome the road bumps along your journey.

Remember, it’s not about just reaching the destination; it’s also about who you become on the journey there!

Success is a journey, not a destination.

Believe it or not, the journey will have road bumps and challenges and how you react to these obstacles is what builds character. When I look back on my achievements, it’s funny because the fondest memories I have of achieving a goal, is not the goal itself, but the journey and what happened on the way to the destination. The satisfaction of overcoming of the challenges and sometimes extreme hardships on the journey brings the greatest sense of achievement and now when I have a new goal is something I look forward to most. Without challenges we do not grow and without growth we risk the possibility of becoming stagnant and bored. Look at the high statistic of people that retire and not long after drop dead. They finish work and have no real goal or sense of purpose to look forward to and sad to say, some die though this lack of purpose.

Your vision is not just aboutowning and building a successful business, it is even much more important than that; it is about your whole life. Success in business is hollow and means nothing without also having a successful life. One of the biggest regrets of highly successful business people is not having success in their family life or having taken a bit more time for their health.

Society, family and well-meaning friends have taught us or subtly instilled beliefs into us from a very young age not to dreamor to think about being able to have anything we want in life. We are taught to study hard, get a job, then work hard and without it being actually said, settle for an average life and mediocrity. I remember very well at the age of 19, telling my best friends about my goals and dreams and them laughing in my face. Forget about financial freedom as it only for the lucky.

What a load of rubbish!

True story - A boy handed in a school assignment in which he was given an F by the teacher who told him to go and redo his assignment for a better grade and to seriously think about what was going to be practical in what he could achieve in his life given his family’s situation and upbringing. After talking with his father who wisely said to his son, the decision was his, he re-handed his paper back in and said to the teacher, give me an F and I’ll keep my dreams.

You will come to realise, to be highly successful, you will have to have to transform yourself, change your thinking and create new habits. You will have to work on releasing the brainwashed thinking that society has over time instilled in you. You don’t have to accept a settled-for mediocre life. The secret key to overcome the resistance to change is having a powerful vision and compelling reason.

I’m not going to say to you it will be easy, I will say to you though, it’s going to be worth it.
